Firewalled Hosts

As outlined under SUBSCRIPTIONS, this service is provided on a subscription basis.

Some end users have configured their systems to query our system, from a host without correctly configured reverse DNS, or without having registered, or without having subscribed.

To prevent our system being overloaded, our firewall script redirects all queries from firewalled servers, to a dns server which will always respond to any and all queries, in the negative. ie, the query response will look like there was no entry for the queried host on our list/s. This will probably have the effect of allowing messages through, which probably should not have got through.

(Unlike the recently demised osirusoft dnsbl service, we do not answer queries in the positive, which would have the effect of boycott listing all hosts queried from firewalled hosts.)

This page shows the current firewall lists, for those servers which are currently querying our system, and have been firewalled.

If you are getting no positive responses to any of your queries, then the DNS server querying us may be firewalled. Search this page to ascertain that.

PLEASE reconfigure your application setup to not query our service, if we are firewalling your queries. Leaving things as they are simply slows things down at your end, consumes bandwidth for no purpose, and adds considerable overheads to our service.

To get off the 'no.dns' firewall table, check that your reverse DNS system is setup correctly, and fix it if not.

To get off the 'no.registration' list, simply register contacts for your domain name, (not hostname) within our registration system.

To get off the 'no.subscription' list, simply subscribe to this service.
